What is the purpose of the bedside crib standard?

The standard aims to minimize the risk of death or injury associated with the use of bedside cribs, including those associated with jamming and suffocation, those associated with structural integrity and product assembly, and those associated with a lack of consumer education on the proper use of the product.

What are the requirements for a bedside crib

The American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) standard contains performance requirements for bedside cribs, including specific performance, testing and marking requirements. The main terms of American Testing and Materials Association (ASTM) bedside crib include the following contents;

Comply with ASTM F2194, "Consumer Safety Regulations for Baby Baskets and Cradles" to ensure that the products meet the basic safety requirements of sleeping environment (suffocation, stability, small parts, squeezing, cutting, accidental folding, load, high edge and sharp edge.)

Multi-mode products-prevent safety hazards when used in other product modes and configurations (game fence, baby basket, diaper changing table, or hand-held baby basket.)

Lower the lowest side height of one side-make sure the user stays safely in it.

Product disassembly-make sure the attachment keeps the baby safely in the bed and prevents the danger of sticking.

Closed openings on the fabric surface-designed to prevent jamming and suffocation hazards.

Bedside Crib Accessories (Sleep Plane Collapsed/Tilted)-Prevents suffocation and jamming due to incorrectly assembled bedside crib attachments that lack major structural elements.

Warning-Designed to warn caregivers of the risks of falling, jamming and suffocation when using bedside cribs.

In testing ASTM F2194, Federal Regulation 16 C.F.R. Part 1222 also contains some amendments to ASTM F2906-13 to comply with amendments to the Baby Basket Standard (Federal Regulation 16 C.F.R. Part 1218).

These amendments include the following: Modification of angle limit in plane inspection of segmented mattress. Federal standard limits allow for a 10-degree inclination.
